If you are trying to understand how Orby works, the process is more straightforward than it may seem: create an account, connect your Deriv account, choose one of the strategies already available on the platform, configure its parameters, and decide whether you want to use it with Demo or Real.

Orby works as a platform connected to Deriv. It does not replace your Deriv account, does not hold your funds, and does not require you to build a trading strategy from scratch.

The strategies already exist inside Orby. Your role is to choose the strategy you want to explore, understand how it works, and adjust the available parameters according to how you intend to use it.

In this guide, you will go through the full journey from sign-up to your first trade.

What is Orby?

Orby is a trading-strategy automation platform connected to Deriv.

Through Deriv’s official API integration, Orby allows users to authorise a connection between the two platforms and use automated strategies available inside Orby.

In practice, Orby brings together:

  • ready-made trading strategies;
  • configurable parameters;
  • Deriv Demo and Real account connectivity;
  • trade information;
  • monitoring tools;
  • stake and risk-management controls;
  • strategy-specific features where available.

Orby is a third-party application. It is not Deriv, is not a financial institution, and does not hold user funds.

Your account and funds remain with Deriv.

Do I need to create a strategy from scratch?

No.

This is one of the most important things to understand about Orby.

The strategies are already built into the platform.

You do not use Orby to program an entire trading strategy from scratch. Instead, you select one of the available strategies and configure the parameters that strategy provides.

Depending on the strategy, those parameters can include:

  • stake;
  • stop loss;
  • stop gain;
  • market;
  • strategy-specific conditions;
  • management options;
  • settings related to that particular logic.

The goal is to let you explore different configurations of an existing strategy rather than having to develop the whole trading logic yourself.

How does Orby work step by step?

The main journey can be summarised as:

Create account → connect Deriv → choose strategy → configure parameters → choose Demo or Real → start the strategy → monitor the trades.

Let’s break down each step.

1. Create your Orby account

The first step is to create your account.

During sign-up, Orby collects the information required to create your access.

Once your account is ready, you can move to the most important step before trading: connecting your Deriv account.

If you are not familiar with Deriv yet, start with our guide explaining what Deriv is and how it works.

2. Connect your Deriv account

Orby needs to be connected to a valid Deriv account before its strategies can trade.

The connection happens through Deriv’s official authorisation flow.

You do not give your Deriv password to Orby.

The authorisation process allows your account to connect so Orby can perform the actions permitted by the integration.

Orby uses Deriv’s official API and user-authorised access.

For the complete process, see how to connect your Deriv account to Orby.

Does Orby hold my money?

No.

Your funds remain in your Deriv account.

Orby is not a wallet, broker, or custodian.

Your financial account remains with Deriv.

3. Choose Demo or Real

Once Deriv is connected, you can use Orby with the environments available for your account.

In practice, this means:

  • Demo account;
  • Real account.

Demo

Demo trades use virtual funds.

It can be useful for:

  • learning the platform;
  • exploring a strategy;
  • adjusting parameters;
  • observing how the strategy behaves;
  • building familiarity before taking financial risk.

Real

Real trades use actual money.

That means both losses and gains have real financial consequences.

Orby does not treat Real as a mandatory step after Demo.

You may use Demo, Real, or both at different times depending on your knowledge, goals, and tolerance for risk.

If you are unsure, read our full guide to Deriv Demo vs Real accounts.

4. Choose a strategy available on Orby

After connecting your account, you can access the strategies available on the platform.

Strategies currently presented by Orby include:

  • Technical Analysis;
  • Higher / Lower;
  • Higher/Lower Multi-Market;
  • Touch / No Touch;
  • Mean Reversion Pro;
  • Mean Multi-Market;
  • Multi-Market;
  • Price Action;
  • Machine Learning;
  • Accumulator;
  • Trend Rider (Multiplier);
  • Only Ups / Only Downs;
  • Even / Odd;
  • Over / Under;
  • Digit Recovery;
  • Statistical Digits.

Each strategy follows a different logic.

That means there is no single “best strategy” for every user or every situation.

Before using one, try to understand:

  • what it is designed to identify;
  • which markets it uses;
  • which parameters can be configured;
  • what risks are involved;
  • how its logic behaves.

For a more detailed example, see Trend Rider.

5. Configure the strategy parameters

Once you select a strategy, you can adjust the parameters available for it.

This is one of the central parts of the Orby experience.

The strategy already has a defined logic, but its configuration can change how it is used.

Depending on the strategy, settings may include:

  • stake amount;
  • stop loss;
  • stop gain;
  • market;
  • entry-related conditions;
  • management settings;
  • parameters specific to that strategy.

Two people can therefore use the same strategy with different configurations.

What is stake?

Stake is the amount assigned to a trade or entry logic, depending on the strategy.

Higher exposure can also mean a larger financial impact when a trade loses.

Never choose your stake only based on how much you hope to make.

It should fit within your risk management.

What are stop loss and stop gain?

In simple terms:

Stop loss represents a predefined loss limit.

Stop gain represents a predefined positive-result limit within the configured logic.

These controls can help establish boundaries before starting, but they do not remove trading risk.

Risk controls do not turn a strategy into a guaranteed trade.

6. Features can vary between strategies

Not every Orby strategy includes exactly the same features.

This is important.

For example, backtesting is available only for specific strategies — currently Mean Reversion, Higher/Lower, and Touch/No Touch.

It should therefore not be treated as a mandatory step for every user or every strategy.

The main journey remains:

understand the strategy → configure it → choose the environment → use it → monitor it.

When an additional feature is available for a specific strategy, it can provide another tool for analysis.

7. Start the strategy

After choosing the environment and configuring the parameters, you can start the strategy.

From that point, the automation executes the rules defined by that strategy through your connected Deriv account.

This does not mean Orby “magically decides” how to make money.

Every strategy follows rules.

The automation executes those rules according to the strategy logic and the parameters you selected.

Automated trading still involves risk.

8. Keep the browser tab open while the strategy runs

This is a very important technical detail.

Orby’s bots run in your browser.

The platform connects directly to Deriv via WebSocket.

That means the Orby tab needs to remain open and connected while a strategy is running.

If there is:

  • a browser shutdown;
  • a closed tab;
  • an internet outage;
  • a device failure;
  • a Deriv outage;

automated execution may be interrupted.

Orby does not keep the bot running on its own servers after you close your browser.

9. Monitor the session

Once the strategy is active, you can monitor the information available on the platform.

The goal is not simply to “turn it on and forget it.”

Even with automation, you should know:

  • which strategy is active;
  • which parameters you configured;
  • which account environment you are using;
  • how much exposure you selected;
  • when you intend to stop the session.

Automation can reduce manual decisions during execution, but it does not remove your responsibility for the configuration and risk you take.

How does your first trade happen?

Your first trade can happen once:

  1. your Orby account has been created;
  2. Deriv is connected;
  3. a strategy has been selected;
  4. the parameters have been configured;
  5. you have chosen the appropriate environment;
  6. the strategy has been started;
  7. its logic identifies a trading condition.

This is an important moment because it represents your first effective use of the platform.

However, one trade alone does not tell you whether you understand the strategy or whether it is appropriate for you.

What matters more is observing behaviour over time.

Do I need to trade many times to use Orby properly?

No.

Trade volume alone does not represent quality of usage.

A strategy can place several trades within a few minutes.

It is more useful to think about:

  • understanding the strategy;
  • configuration consistency;
  • respecting risk limits;
  • observing behaviour across different periods;
  • returning to the platform deliberately.

More trades do not necessarily mean better trading.

How is Orby different from building a bot from scratch?

On Orby, strategies already have defined logic.

You choose from the strategies available and configure their parameters.

This is different from a platform where you need to design the entire strategy logic, program conditions, or code a trading bot from scratch.

Orby focuses on making existing strategies available for configuration and use in an environment connected to Deriv.

Does Orby guarantee profits?

No.

No automated trading strategy can guarantee profits.

Orby’s Terms of Use make clear that:

  • automated trading does not guarantee profit;
  • past results do not guarantee future results;
  • Orby does not provide investment advice;
  • users are responsible for their own trades and settings.

You can lose some or all of the money used in Real trades.

Never trade with borrowed money or money you cannot afford to lose.

Can Orby trade while my computer is turned off?

No.

Because the bots run in your browser, the tab needs to remain open and connected.

If the computer is turned off, the browser is closed, or the connection drops, execution may be interrupted.

Does Orby work with Demo?

Yes.

Deriv Demo can be used as part of the Orby experience according to the options available.

It can be especially useful if you are:

  • learning the platform;
  • exploring a strategy;
  • configuring parameters;
  • learning how automation behaves.

Demo is a valid way to use Orby, not simply a stage that must be abandoned.

Does Orby work with a Real account?

Yes.

Orby can also be used with a Real account when that option is available for your account and you decide to use actual capital.

The difference is that Real trades carry real financial consequences.

That makes risk management and understanding the strategy even more important.

Do I need trading knowledge to use Orby?

You do not need to be an expert to explore the platform, but you do need to understand that trading involves risk.

Before using a strategy, try to understand at least:

  • the type of trade;
  • the strategy logic;
  • the main parameters;
  • the difference between Demo and Real;
  • the risk associated with the stake;
  • the limits you configured.

Automation does not replace basic understanding.

Which strategy should I choose first?

There is no single correct answer.

The right choice depends on what you want to explore, your knowledge, and the type of logic you want to understand.

Instead of asking:

Which strategy makes the most money?

try asking:

How does this strategy work?

Which parameters can I configure?

What kind of market does it use?

What risks are involved?

Can I understand its behaviour before using real money?

Those questions generally lead to more informed decisions.
